Jermaine Cornelius Dorsey, affectionately known by friends and family as “Peedie,” burst into life on January 24, 1982, in the heart of Maryland, and left this world on December 7, 2024, in LaPlata, Maryland. He may have departed a bit prematurely for the great dance floor in the sky, but you can bet he’s already started a party up there!
A legendary character, Peedie was always the life of the gathering. Whether he was shaking a leg or cracking a joke, he had an unmatched ability to squeeze laughter from even the grumpiest of friends. Known for his unforgettable catchphrases— “They ain't never loved us, remember?” and “I wear my heart on my sleeve,” with a dash of “No new friends”—he sure had a way with words that made you stop, think, and chuckle all at once.
An avid Washington Redskins fan, he spent many vibrant afternoons cheering for his team with the passion of a thousand fans. When he wasn’t rooting for them, you could find him enjoying the great outdoors, casting lines as he went fishing or just soaking up the sun. The apples of his eye: his beloved daughters. Many cherished memories will forever carry the laughter of those family outings and bonding moments, reminding us of the joy he spread every single day.
Peedie's warrantless pursuit of fun is not just a reflection of his personality but also a testament to the relationships he fostered, leaving a trail of happiness wherever he went. He was welcoming, inclusive, and always ready to share a good time, embodying the essence of living life to the fullest.
To celebrate his life and all the antics that came with it, there will be a Dance benefit/ Memorial held in his honor on December 14, 2024, at Lamonts Nightclub in Indian Head, MD. Doors will open to friends and family at 9 p.m. with a $10 dollar cover charge to help with funeral expenses, and we expect the festivities to roll on until 1 a.m. So come prepared to dance, laugh, share memories, and, most importantly, remember Peedie as he lived: vibrant, joyful, and full of life.
Rest easy, Jermaine Cornelius Dorsey, and may your spirit dance freely among the stars, reminding us all to embrace the laughter and love that comes our way!
