Edna Renee Lyles

In loving memory of Edna Renee Lyles, born on March 25, 1987, in the heart of Maryland, who departed this world prematurely on February 5, 2025, in Accokeek, Maryland. Known affectionately as Nae, Edna was a brilliant light within her family and community, shining brightly through her unique spirit and generous heart.

Edna dedicated her life to the service of others as a devoted home health aide, earning the love and respect of her patients through her unwavering commitment to their wellbeing. Her genuine care transformed the lives she touched, making every day brighter with her kind smile and feisty personality. A true people person, her innate ability to connect with others made her not just a caregiver but a beloved companion to those fortunate enough to know her.

A high school diploma from the Charles County Public School System set the foundation for Edna's career, but it was her zest for life that truly defined her. She could often be found on the dance floor, exuding energy and inviting others to join her in joyful celebration. Edna loved to party and was known for her infectious laughter, her hip shooting one-liners, and her visionary catchphrase, famously proclaiming, "boy or girl bye." She was a true party starter, embracing any occasion with a spirit of revelry that was unparalleled.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Edna was a heartfelt supporter of children, devoted to their happiness and success. An ardent Dallas Cowboys fan, she exhibited loyalty not just to her team but to those she cared for, passionately rooting for them in moments of triumph and trials alike. She adored the colors blue and gray, and her infectious enthusiasm made instant friends of strangers and long-lasting connections among acquaintances.

Edna's departure leaves a void not only within her immediate family—her husband Joseph Peen, son's Josiah Penn, Kingston Key, father, William Leroy Lyles, her mother, Doris Theresa Cole, and her beloved siblings: Tyrone, Christina, Leroy (Tiffany), Jackie, Anthony (Shawnisha), Ashley, Albert (Tisheika), as well as a host of aunts and uncles nieces, nephews, and cousins—but also in the hearts of her friends and community. They stand together, united in grief, cherishing the memories and legacies that she leaves behind. She is proceeded in death by her beloved son Nathaniel Penn.

In the sorrow of her untimely loss, we remember Edna not just for her absence but for the profound impact she made on our lives. A funeral service will be held in her honor on February 14, 2025, at 10:30 AM, followed by her burial at the same location, Zion Baptist Church in Welcome, Maryland. As we gather to celebrate her life, may the echoes of her joy, compassion, and feistiness resonate in the hearts of all who were privileged to be touched by her remarkable spirit. Edna Renee Lyles will forever be remembered, cherished, and loved.
