Claudette Job Miller

Claudette Job Miller, a beloved matriarch, departed this earthly realm on April 11, 2025, in La Plata, Maryland, leaving behind a tapestry of cherished memories woven from her rich life. Born on December 24, 1941, in the vibrant country of Tobago, she blossomed into a woman who was as strong and outspoken as the waves that crashed against her island home.

Growing up amidst the lush landscapes of her childhood, Claudette received her education, cultivating a passion for knowledge that would follow her to the United States, where she proudly earned her Associate of Arts degree.

Claudette's expansive heart and boundless love for her family defined her existence. She was a God-fearing woman whose faith acted as her compass through life’s storms, guiding her with a graceful strength that many admired. Her life was a testament to her unwavering prayerfulness—a beacon of light for those around her.

Family gatherings were filled with her laughter, echoing off the walls of her warm home, where the aroma of her culinary creations—the delectable curry chicken being a standout—filled the air and wrapped everyone in a comforting embrace. Claudette was not only an excellent cook but an artist in the kitchen, known for her special touch with ribs and smoked turkey necks that made her family's mealtimes unforgettable.

As a Nurse Tech, Claudette dedicated her professional life to caring for others—a reflection of the compassion she exhibited in every aspect of her existence. Her devotion extended beyond her profession; it touched the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—her grand and great-grand babies—who were the light of her life.

Sundays became gentle rituals filled with love as she braided her children's hair, a tradition steeped in care and familial bonding. She traversed miles willingly and joyfully, her heart full of anticipation at the mere thought of being enveloped in the laughter of her grandchildren: Vance, Kiara, Jada, Jarel, Marique, Christine, and Jasper—and the delightful giggles of her great-grandchildren: Mailani, Amiyra, and Kaleb.

As the years unfurled, Claudette’s strong spirit remained unyielding. She filled her home and life with old-school Motown music, reveling in its heartfelt rhythms and soul-stirring melodies, and found joy in the simplest acts of being surrounded by her loved ones. She was the epitome of strength—her voice a clarion call of courage, her laughter a sweet salve to many.

Though Claudette mourned the absence of her beloved husband, George Oliver Miller Sr., and the profound loss of her parents, Rufus and Letticia Job, as well as her siblings: Dauntless Job, Ina Warrick, Rebecca Spencer, Edica Hodges, Ophelia Cooks, and Earlyn Dookeran, her legacy lives on in the hearts of her children: Lavaniol Miller, Monique Miller, George Oliver Miller Jr., Gary Miller Sr., Kevin Miller, and Lennie Miller.

She is also lovingly remembered by her daughters-in-law: Kim Miller, Jayne Miller, and Tracy Miller, and by her 37 nieces and nephews. Their roots, grounded in love and faith, continue to flourish—an enduring testament to her strength and spirit.

As we gather to honor her life, we celebrate the essence of Claudette Job Miller—a woman of faith, a keeper of traditions, and a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose vibrant legacy will resound for generations to come.
